Hi! I’m Julia and my research interests lie within psycholinguistics, more specifically how written language is processed and how grammatical gender interacts with mental representations of gender. Since September 2026, I’m employed at Laboratoire Parole Langage (Aix-Marseille Université - CNRS) in France, where I’m working on the project L2-Spell: The impact of orthography on second language word learning and processing (PIs: Pauline Welby (LPL, Aix-en-Provence), Elsa Spinelli (LPNC, Grenoble) and Audrey Bürki (Université de Lausanne)).

In January 2026, I defended my thesis in French Linguistics at Lund University, Sweden. Through four empirical studies, I investigated the effects of French gender-inclusive language on mental representations of gender and language processing in reading with different psycholinguistic methods (sentence-evaluation task, eye tracking).
